K-Tel's Mind Bender kicks off with "Bad Blood" a groovy little song by Neil Sedaka with an anonymous assist from Elton John who ironically would depose Sedaka at the top spot of the charts after a fortnight with "Island Girl". John himself shows up on Mind Bender with the #6 hit "Rocket Man". Despite having six #1 songs among the 22 tracks, Mind Bender is weighted down in the K-Tel Scale by three songs that failed to breach the Top 30.

The Canadian edition of Mind Bender "only" featured 20 original hits, with eleven of them carried over from the US version. One of the six songs that failed to make a dent on the American charts is a contemporaneous cover of "Theme from S.W.A.T." by T.H.P. Orchestra. This Canadian disco act hit #1 on their homeland charts in March 1976 while Rhythm Heritage took the same song to the top in the States in February. Unfortunately, Canadian Number Ones—the songs colored red on the chart below—mean bupkis on the K-Tel Scale.
