PURE POWER [1977]

The commercial for K-tel's Pure Power is one the few HERC actually remembers viewing back in 1977.  And it made him want the album pretty bad, not gonna lie. (Why start now, right?)  Alas, he never ever got that album... until twenty years later.  And then once he had it, he realized it wasn't that great.  It's that old morlaity tale: be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.  Tellingly, HERC only has only one 45 from Pure Power and it is one of his Top 20 Most Favorite Songs Ever:

Just as HERC suspected, Pure Power under-performed on the K-Tel Scale with three songs failing to make the Pop Top 40, the largest scoring factor in the K-tel Scale formula. Most of the crossover charting was done on the Adult Contemporary (AC) chart, with half of the album's twenty tracks making that move.

Due to recent Winter Olympic drubbings diplomatic difficulties between HERC and Canada, he will no longer be featuring classic Canadian K-tel albums.  Nor will any further K-tel Canada albums be subjected to the K-tel Scale.  HERC will however continue to feature cover art variations like the one below, which was obtained before the embargo began.
