Things are happening in life right now that preclude me from giving these songs a fair shake and I apologize. I've spent the past week to ten days listening to a steady diet of the first four studio albums by Ramones and the compilation Ramonesmania! That being said, I like eight of the thirteen tracks on 1982's Love Is... The album is the final of our 1982 offerings and was copyrighted on October 14, 1982 along with Blast Off, The Hit List and The Beat. Friend of the Kollection Jermaine Mack will probably point out that the album was featured in a commercial with the titles listed above as well as the following titles, which will not be appearing here on the K-Tel Kollection: Rock 'N' Roll Fever Volumes 1-2, Minipops and The Ronald McDonald All-Star Party.

Friend of the Kollection, Bruce David Janu posted an episode of his Adventures In Vinyl series devoted to Love Is... back in 2013 and has since archived it on Mixcloud. Listen below.
Another friend of the Kollection, Mr. Adrian Qiana posted his Love Is... episode of Show N K-Tel in time for Valentine's Day 2015. Listen below:
Love Is... was also released on 8-track though I could find no evidence of the album on cassette. (It has to exist, right?) and cassette (see comment below). Without further stalling, here's the K-Tel Scale scorecard - I'm predicting lots of AC crossover, how 'bout you?

Love Is... was released in the UK in 1981 with a completely different tracklisting though the cover art and back cover remained virtually the same. I like seven of the sixteen tracks on this one so between the two versions of the album, there lurks a nice 15 track playlist.
Next time out, it's 1983 y'all - the final year of The K-Tel Kollection. Only nine more albums left! First out the gate for 1983 is Pure Magic! Full of Today's Soft Sounds!
I Love listening to Love Is because they have all 13 songs from that album!
ReplyDeleteGood News I ordered this 1982 K-Tel Record Album from Ebay since Monday!
ReplyDelete"Love Is..." does exist on cassette -- I have a copy of it. The catalog number is PNU 9984.
