Our friend Brandon Hixson, who just released his new album Picture Of You in August featuring several Eighties-sounding songs, including this one (watch/listen) and this one (watch/listen), has also found some time to unearth and upload these two mixtapes he made when he was much younger and post them on his YouTube channel.
Originally, Night Waves '82 was flagged for copyright violation by Sony Music Entertainment (SME) within a couple of days after Brandon first uploaded it back in September 2016. In April 2017, he re-posted it with a slightly different tracklist and artwork.

Because Brandon's picks are purely personal, his choices did not depend on chart positions so each album above includes at least three or four songs that failed to make the Top 40 altogether as well as a couple of songs that just barely squeaked into the Top 40. He says he tends to like "the songs better when they're more obscure!" There was a smattering of chart crossover action on the AC, Rock, and R&B charts but not nearly enough to overcome the paucity of big hit songs - there are just eight Top 10 songs between the two albums so neither one did particularly well on the hits-oriented K-Tel Scale. Aside from that, both of these albums are great listens and I combined them into one 101 minute playlist below for your listening pleasure. Keep them coming, Mr. Hixson.
